What are the New Features?
The updates to the website will allow three new conveniences and two security features, namely, the Registration of Multiple Accounts, Points Transfer, Passwords, Card Blocking and Email Verification.
What do I need to do?

Login using your Username and PIN. You will be redirected to the Registration Page, where you will complete your profile by entering an Email Address and a Password. After entering these, you will immediately receive an email requiring verification of your registration, with a link you can click to activate the changes to your account.

The next time you need to login, you will use the Email and Password you entered on the Registration Page instead of your Username and PIN.

About Email: The new Email Verification feature (described below) works by approving messages we send to your email address, so please enter an email address you regularly check.

About Passwords: We recommend you use any combination of alphanumeric (numbers and letters) in upper and lower case. DO NOT use your name, dates or words found in the dictionary. The more random your characters, the harder it will be to guess.

When are the new features going to be implemented?
These changes take effect December, 2008 onwards.
What is the Registration of Multiple Accounts feature?
Registration of Multiple Accounts allows you to manage one or more accounts.
After registering another account, what can I do with that account?
Once registered by another account, you can perform any of the available options to a registered account as if that account was yours.
Can you un-register an account?
Yes, you can un-register an account you had previously registered.
What is the Card Blocking feature?
A new important security feature is Card Blocking. In case of Card Loss, you can use SMAC Online to block your card, and with the new Registration of Multiple Accounts feature, you can now also disable other accounts as well. You will need to know the PIN and Card number of an account before you can block it.
Why is using a Password better than using a PIN?
Previously, members needed to use their PIN to login. With the ability to Register Multiple Accounts, using a PIN to login is therefore no longer applicable. Using a Password for the website login also allows you to use complicated, longer, and therefore more difficult to guess Passwords that can be changed at anytime without affecting your PIN in any way. As a result, SMAC Online is now more secure than ever.
What is Email Validation?
Email Validation is an important security enhancing feature. In order to validate certain actions involving accounts, an email is sent to the account owner, requesting a validation before continuing. Without this validation, tasks are not completed.
What email notifications does SMAC Online send?

SMAC Online sends an email to you anytime any of the following situations occur:

  • Registration
  • Reporting of a Lost Card
  • Registration of a New Card
  • Password Changes
  • PIN Changes
  • Forgot Password
  • Updating of Profile

Please take note of these notification emails in order to keep track of your account details, points and profile details. Also, do not reply to these system - generated emails as they will not be received or replied to.
